yes and no. it is an affectation dating way back to the ancient and honourable 1960s. like the Freemasons it falsly claims true ancient traditions as its own. No1 knows where the grail is or if they do they are not telling but it was an ordinary cup of olive wood or clay which I always believe simply went back to the kitchens to be washed and stacked. This Mary of Magdala bilge is about as real as robin hood`s Maid Marion, or King Arthur`s Merlin. Some author thought to add a little spice centuries after the events which inspired the stories.

No - it isn't real. See Wiki..... After becoming a cause célèbre in the 1980s, the mythical Priory of Sion was exposed as a ludibrium created in 1961 by Pierre Plantard, a false pretender to the French throne. The evidence presented in support of its historical existence and activities before 1956 was discovered to have been forged and then planted in various locations around France by Plantard and his accomplices. Nevertheless, many conspiracy theorists persist in believing that the Priory of Sion is a 1000-year-old influential cabal which conceals a subversive secret. The Priory of Sion myth has been exhaustively debunked by journalists and scholars as one of the great hoaxes of the 20th century

No. It has been proven to be a complete fake. Look it up on wikipedia. The whole idea of Mary Magdalene being the holy grail was invented by the men that wrote "Holy Blood Holy Grail", and even they say they made the whole thing up. Opus Dei is real though.

The Priory of Scion/Sion has elements of both reality and fiction woven within it, like any ancient order or gathering of individuals brought together for a purpose they deem necessary to secrecy. In many ways, the Priory of Sion/Scion wasn't so much about maintaining the 'secret' of the Holy Grail but acting as a bulwark against the omnipresent single-minded interpretation of fact and history as dictated by the Catholic Church. If you've read, or seen the movie, The DaVinci Code, many of the 'masters' associated with the Priory were groundbreakingly intelligent for their day, and thus were much more comfortable entertaining ideas of Jesus as a mortal man, and thus able to marry and bear children, then many around them. The Priory's main purpose was not to protect the living heirs of Jesus Christ, per se, but to protect the human legacy of Jesus Christ. If Jesus is but a temporary corporeal embodiment of God, then he really is nothing more than a fleshy mouthpiece, playing the part of the dummy sitting obediently on God's knee, and thus only 'plays' at being human. However, if Jesus was as human as you or I, then the full spectrum of human emotion and experience would have been necessary to his life in order for him to become the prime intermediary that he said he was. That means partaking of ALL human emotions, including lust, desire and love. The question of whether or not Jesus and Mary Magdalene were ever married, according to Jewish custom, is a bit besides the point, since Jesus himself said that what was important was not in the pedigree offered but the spirit. Thusly, it can be said that the spirit of marriage existed between Jesus and Mary Magdalene regardless of any actual documentation (such a 'spiritual' marriage also exists between St. Francis and St. Claire as well, and there is no evidence there that either of them took such vows.) Although Jesus probably did intend for Mary Magdalene to carry on the legacy of his church, which was a radical departure from the accepted social power structure (all the temple elders were men during Jesus' time) and thus one reason why he did intend that, the reason the church was entrusted to Peter was because Peter was more representative of whom Jesus came down here to save. Mary Magdalene wasn't the screw up, Peter was, thus entrusting the church to Peter was Jesus/God's way of saying 'Here is someone you can identify with. A flawed leader for a flawed people.' However, since the ascension of Peter affectively ushered in an extremely misogynistic and repressive period of history against women, many followers believed that turning the church, and its power, back over to the one originally intended was a way to rectify the mistakes of the past. Thus, the 'Holy Grail', the cup of salvation, was a metaphor for bringing the church back into the balance Jesus intended it to be. The 'royal blood' in question is not that of Jesus' linneage but of Jesus' marriage: if Mary is truly Jesus' wife, then she has equal power and standing in the church, and those who serve her (male or female) thus have as much a right to lead (and be counted as equals among) the church as those (male) that follow her husband. That, in essence, is the 'secret' of the Holy Grail. That is why it is a woman, in the book and movie, who is revealed to be the 'heir'. She is the 'heir' of Christ in much the same way the Samaritan is a true 'Christian' in his parable.
